Spotlight Effect

You think everyone is watching you (they're not)

The phenomenon where people tend to overestimate how much others notice their appearance or behavior. In a Cornell experiment, students wore an embarrassing t-shirt to class. They predicted 50% would notice. In reality, only 20% did. We view the world from our own center, assuming others are just as focused on us as we are. Relax, people are mostly thinking about themselves!
