Cognitive Load (Deception)

Lying requires more cognitive effort than telling the truth. You have to invent a story, ensure consistency, monitor the listener, and suppress the truth. This extra "load" causes side effects: slower speech, fewer gestures, and delayed reactions. Police use this by asking liars to tell their story in reverse order, which overloads the brain.
